Stijn Hoeks

FME Technology Specialist

My name is Stijn Hoeks (1992) and I have been working at Tensing since April 2019.

Study

In 2013 I started studying Social Geography and Spatial Planning at Utrecht University. During this study I came in contact with GIS for the first time, which immediately caught my interest because of the extensive possibilities to analyze and visualize geographical data. After this study I dived into the world of GIS during the master Geographical Information Management and Applications (GIMA).

Hobby

In my free time I can often be found in the boulder or climbing hall. The nice thing about bouldering is that you not only need physical strength to reach your goal, but a good climbing technique is just as important. A fun boulder route is like a complicated puzzle, to be solved by making the right steps and finding the right balance. Hereby it helps enormously to climb with friends: when one person climbs, the other person can give directions. Climbing is therefore really teamwork for me.

Tensing

That team feeling was also immediately present when I started at Tensing in the Young Professional program. Tensing has an enormous amount of knowledge, and colleagues are always ready to share knowledge. This close-knit team, combined with the opportunities that Tensing offers me to develop myself on a personal and professional level, make it a pleasure to work here.
