Esri IMGIS 2025: our programme | Tensing

Written by Jelmer Akkerman | Mar 20, 2025 9:59:02 AM

The Esri International Infrastructure Management & GIS Conference (IMGIS) is a key event showcasing the important role of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in managing infrastructure assets. This year, Esri will host IMGIS from April 9–11 in Frankfurt, Germany, bringing together industry experts to share insights and innovations. Avineon | Tensing is proud to be a sponsor of Esri IMGIS 2025. As specialists in helping organisations maximize the value of their asset data through GIS technology, we’re excited to connect with attendees and share our expertise. Visit us at booth 115 and join us for our four presentations, where we'll demonstrate our approach and results.

This blog offers a preview of these projects, providing insights into the topics we’ll explore in more detail in Frankfurt.

Using ArcGIS Field Maps for As-Built Asset Registration in Esri’s ArcGIS Utility Network

Pidpa is responsible for delivering drinking water and wastewater services in the province of Antwerpen, Belgium. Tensing and Pidpa are long-term partners and implemented the ArcGIS Utility Network 4 years ago. Recently, a next step is taken in as-built-registration using high-precision GPS devices, coupled with ArcGIS Field Maps to collect 3D asset measurements when assets are put in the ground, by both internal crews and external contractors.

In this presentation we explain the complete business process set up as well as the business case through key numbers on project costs and benefits.

Presented by: Bart Reynaert (Pidpa) and Jelmer Akkerman (Avineon | Tensing).

Flexibility in Action: Implementing the Esri ArcGIS Utility Network for a TSO

Esri's ArcGIS Utility Network introduces an innovative approach to manage and visualize complex infrastructure systems, offering unparalleled flexibility in data modeling. This presentation will explore the implementation journey of the Utility Network at a European Transmission System Operator (TSO), emphasizing the importance of leveraging the inherent adaptability of the Esri data model.

A core theme will be the flexibility required when designing and refining the data model to accommodate diverse operational needs, stakeholder perspectives and requirements of connected systems in 2D and 3D.

Presented by: Markus Pitteroff (TenneT) and Jan Creupelandt (Avineon | Tensing).

Integration of SAP with Esri ArcGIS Utility Network for a Transmission System Operator

GIS and SAP both contains asset data but can be differently mastered. A synchronization mechanism is needed to keep both systems in sync. Therefore in the project, a bidirectional interface were developed including a ArcGIS pro plugin. The benefits of UN was used to automatically determine the hierarchical order and naming conventions needed for SAP.

Presented by: Markus Pitteroff (TenneT) and Jan Creupelandt (Avineon | Tensing).

Evides’ GIS Innovation: The Path to Data-Driven Operations

In times of complex issues and staff shortages, data-driven operations are crucial. Evides, a leading drinking water company in the Netherlands, is taking the lead by significantly enhancing its GIS landscape using Esri's ArcGIS Utility Network. This innovation integrates business and IT through pragmatic data models and optimized processes. The result? Substantial improvements in work efficiency, increased employee satisfaction, and a strong foundation for future growth.

Presented by: Sybren Frederico de Jesus Madureira Porfírio (Evides) and Thom Leeffers (Avineon | Tensing).
