Marijn Meilink

Young Professional

Hello, my name is Marijn Meilink and I started as a Young Professional at Tensing in February 2024.

Career
I have a background in Social Geography, where I soon got entangled in the GIS world. After a few introductory GIS courses, I was already enthused and took every possible GIS course the bachelor had to offer. After this, I also took the GI minor at VU University Amsterdam and the master's programme GIMA at Utrecht University. During my master's, I did an internship at Sweco and gained experience in agent-based modelling for my thesis. After this experience with theory, it was time for me to also go into practice, which is why my eye fell on the Young Professional programme at Tensing.

Spare time
I grew up in congestion-rich Gorinchem, after which I soon moved to Utrecht for my studies. I have been living here with great pleasure for six years now. In my spare time, I get a lot of energy from friends and family but also from playing football, running, walking, puzzling, reading, (board) games and the occasional drink. Finally, my love for geography translates into a large collection of atlases, so please do speak to me if I can bring you one.

Why Tensing?
For me, what sets Tensing apart from other companies is the focus on personal development and the friendly open atmosphere in the office. In addition, Tensing offers opportunities to develop personal skills in the form of training courses and certificates. I am therefore convinced that I can still learn a lot more, so I would like to focus on my development. Tensing makes me feel that they offer the tools for this well.!

At the end of the day, it's about whether you are already looking forward to the next one
