My name is Hanneke Hoogendoorn. I have been working at Tensing as an Esri Technology Specialist since August 2023.
I studied Ecology at VU University, where I came across GIS through a course. I was immediately enthusiastic and made sure my internships had a GIS component. I calculated with ArcGIS whether nature restoration was necessary if we wanted to build an island in the Haringvliet, and at the VU I compared methods to set habitat restoration targets in the EU.
After my studies, I made a foray into marketing. I was working at Brunel by then and was able to develop further as an SEO specialist in a super fun team. But the GIS world kept luring. In early 2022, I made the switch and started as a GIS specialist at Alliander. There, I registered mutations in the electricity network, including cables and electricity stations, in Smallworld.
I live in Amsterdam and my spare time you can find me a lot in the theatre. I sing in a musical choir, perform in musical productions and help out behind the scenes during performances. With the friends in this group, I often go to performances, play board games, go for a walk and the occasional weekend away.
My first impression of Tensing was immediately good. Nice group of people for whom the combination of knowledge and team spirit is important. I really like the focus on ArcGIS and FME. That fits exactly what I was looking for.
