I'm from Changchun, a big city in northeastern China. In 2008 I came to the Netherlands for my master's degree in Geomatics at TU Delft.
Every data source has its own character and beauty
The two years of study were intensive, but really worth it. You can translate geomatics as 'geo-informatics’ but with a focus on the built environment. The study covers almost everything about Geo-information — from data acquisition and processing to data storage. It helped me to get a complete picture of Geo-information and the possibilities.
Geo information includes a wide range of data: satellite images, radar signals, aerial photos, LIDAR data, GPS data, vector data, etc. Each data source has its own character and beauty. The knowledge and background of information technology gives me the freedom to choose the best solution for every issue.
After my studies I started working at NEO. In the five years at NEO, I was able to participate in a lot in research and development projects. This has deepened and broadened my knowledge in processing-chain development, processing-chain automation, product design and development. Being able to successfully build a solution from scratch has given me a lot of confidence. At the same time, it feels good to help the client solve a problem or improve efficiency.
During my work I gained extensive hands-on experience with Dutch data such as BGT, BAG, GBKN, AAN, AHN etc. And I also gained practical experience with FME, ArcGIS, SQL, Python, image processing software, open source data and tools.
I like to try to understand the way in which Geo-information is used by clients and I am happy to be able to help solve problems.
The beauty of the Chinese characters
In my spare time, I love the beauty of the Chinese characters, the flow of every drawing. Calligraphy requires many instruments and special paper. I am happy to own a ready-to-go toolset. Once a year I travel to China to be with my family and friends. Chinese tea is also one of my hobbies.
Expertise and good atmosphere within Tensing
I love the atmosphere at Tensing. Having colleagues with different but strong expertise is an excellent opportunity to learn from each other.
